Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) shares Guy Harvey Foundation’s (GHF) vision to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and inspire communities to conserve and protect Florida’s environment for generations to come. FPL and the GHF work together to expand educational opportunities to help teachers, students and families learn about Florida’s environment and wildlife.

As a conservation sponsor, FPL invests in STEM education by supporting GHF’s marine science education program in Florida schools. Their curriculum-based courses and adventures explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math through student-specific inquiry using groundbreaking research.

FPL has also collaborated with GHF Co-Chair Jessica Harvey to highlight education and conservation initiatives at Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center. Harvey also co-hosted an educational video that highlighted FPL’s conservation efforts helping to bring the American crocodile back from the brink of extinction at the company’s Turkey Point Clean Energy Center in Homestead, Florida, and extended these efforts into its curriculum.

FPL will also work with GHFF to highlight conservation efforts surrounding manatees and sea turtles and will host professional development workshops for local teachers to aid in science literacy. “Investing in education and inspiring the next generation to be environmental stewards is part of our commitment to working with the communities we serve to help make them better places to live, work and raise a family,” said Pam Rauch, vice president of external affairs and economic development at FPL. “We are excited to champion the protection of Florida’s wildlife alongside the Guy Harvey Foundation to make a difference in our communities, and to move Florida forward.”
